About

Masterclass

They've all done GCSE Maths. Many of them did very well. Yet transferring those skills into A Level Physics is where a lot of students come unstuck, and it holds up the physics. It's rarely that they can't do the maths. It's that they don't recognise when to use it.

This session is for anyone teaching A Level Physics, specialist or out of field. We'll go through the maths skills the course demands and where in the course students meet each one first, why the transfer from maths lessons to physics problems breaks down, ways to scaffold questions so students can get to the physics, and the resources they can use independently when they need them, so this doesn't all land on you.

Lewis taught physics for years and was a head of physics before starting Physics Online, so this is one teacher talking to another about what works…
